Description du poste
The group of Dr. Selma Dahmane at the Friedrich Miescher Institute for Biomedical Research is seeking a research assistant to support a new collaborative project with the group of Dr. Jeffrey Chao . The project will investigate how the localization and translation of specific mRNAs are regulated in neurons, and how these processes may be altered in neurodevelopmental disorders. The work combines advanced cell culture, molecular biology, genome engineering, single-molecule imaging, cryo-electron microscopy, and cryo-electron tomography. We are looking for a motivated and adaptable individual who enjoys working in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment and contributing to the development and application of cutting-edge approaches in cellular and molecular neuroscience. The position is offered as a three-year fixed-term contract. In this role, you will:
- €¢ Generate and maintain cell culture lines, including induced pluripotent stem cell (iPSC) lines and iPSC-derived neurons.
- €¢ Optimize cell culture conditions and apply genome-engineering tools.
- €¢ Conduct experiments using molecular biology and biochemistry techniques.
- €¢ Analyze data, document results, and contribute to their interpretation.
- €¢ Collaborate with and support the work of a small research team. About you
- €¢ You hold a Master’s degree in biology or a in a related field, or have completed training as a laboratory technician or assistant.
- €¢ You have hands-on experience with mammalian cell culture. Experience with iPSC or neuronal cell culture is an advantage.
- €¢ You have experience with standard molecular biology or biochemistry techniques. Experience with microscopy and/or structural methods is an advantage.
- €¢ You are eager to learn new techniques and apply them carefully and consistently.
